Kate McKenna

Kate started her role as Editor in May 2021 and has been a Senior Editor since January 2022. She previously worked as the email editor for The Spruce since joining Dotdash Meredith in July 2019. She worked as a freelance contributing writer for POPSUGAR for three years, writing primarily about home decor and lifestyle topics. An experienced writer and editor, Kate began her career in digital content marketing for local businesses. Her love of all things home and lifestyle made her an expert content marketer for homeowner-focused businesses. 

In her spare time, Kate loves to find new ways to make her own home look and function its best. Whether swapping in a new duvet cover, buying a new decorative plant pot, or finding the perfect piece of furniture for storing her collection of scented candles, she can always find something to do around the house.

Kate has been quoted in major publications including The Washington Post and Kiplinger's.

As Senior Editor, Kate currently oversees content focused around remodeling, home how-tos, cleaning, design, and gardening. She assigns, publishes, and updates articles, and manages The Spruce's Home Improvement Review Board, a team of licensed contractors and other industry professionals who review The Spruce's home improvement content for accuracy. Kate also manages The Spruce's news and trending content, and contributes the occasional social media video to The Spruce's official accounts.
